June 28th, 2007 — Books
So Desiring God (John Piper’s ministry) has been having a book sale since yesterday. Every book in the store for $5.
I got 16 books.
Sixteen.
For $88 after shipping.
Retail value easily at least $250-300.
I don’t know whether to be proud of my frugality or ashamed of my booklust.
(Sale’s still going on through tonight, by the way. Get in while the gettin’s good.)
June 27th, 2007 — Random
It’s been suggested that Ben’s recent unboxing photos of his new ESV Bible may be the first Bible unboxing photos on the Internet.
Wrong

Just in time for the heat and the sun.
June 24th, 2007 — The Church, Theology
Episcopal priest declares that she is “both Muslim and Christian”. When asked, her bishop said that he is “excited about the interfaith possibilities.”
Dude. Yikes.
June 10th, 2007 — Prayer Requests

My friend Jason took this picture of Zion Church in Lincoln, NE (of which he and his wife are members) as it was destroyed by fire yesterday morning. Obviously, the previous sentence isn’t entirely accurate, as a church is not its meeting space, but still.
Keep the family of Zion PCA in your prayers as they deal with the loss of their beautiful building and as they move forward. God will be glorified through the destruction of this building, but the pain is just the same.

Four years ago today, she came into this world looking like this . . .

Happy birthday, Z. *sniff*
June 1st, 2007 — Life
Apologies for the lack of posts lately. I spent this past Sunday morning in Urgent Care, having been unable to breathe properly for the previous . . . oh . . . twelve hours or so. Felt like someone was inside of my chest, squeezing my esophagus with a blood-pressure cuff. Sleep didn’t come that night, though I was completely fatigued, trying to scrap together a full breath’s worth of oxygen into my lungs.
Anyway, I was diagnosed with “reactive airway disease”, which exhibits itself with asthma-like symptoms, but only shows up with certain triggers. Some prescribed steroids, antibiotics, and an albuterol inhaler later, and I’m feeling almost better.
At least it’s not tuberculosis. Or ebola.
