Today was our third wedding anniversary. Amy and I celebrated by staying in bed most of the day with 100+ degree temperatures and throwing up. Not the best of anniversaries, to be sure (but memorable). At least we were together the whole day.
Hopefully tomorrow will be better . . . we’re set to drive to Virginia Beach for the wedding of a friend of hers this weekend. If we’re still feeling like this, I don’t know if that’s going to happen.

My beautiful daughter transmitted her not-beautiful cold to me earlier this week. After hacking up multiple lungs most of the work week, I stayed home today. Good thing, because today has been the worst by far. Yuck. Hopefully, the combination of Ricola, Theraflu, and Excedrin will deaden the symptoms enough for me to function normally.
Either that, or it’ll put me into a coma, which might be nice as well.
Things at church are going well. We’re experiencing growth, people are coming to believe the Gospel, relationships are being formed and deepened, and goals are being set and met. Officers (elders and deacons) are being trained, and (by God’s grace — gotta throw that in there) we’ll move from “mission church” status to being an actual particular church by the end of the year. All the while, making Jesus look good to our friends and neighbors. I think that this thing is working.
(By the way, I’m among the guys in officer training, so if you pray, pray for my continued diligence in my studies for our upcoming examinations. And my cough. Because I feel like crap.)

So this is my new place. The new home of not another blog is raewhitlock.com. I felt like my blogging was getting stale and one way to break out of my rut was to pack up and move, so to speak.
If you don’t know me already, my name is (shockingly) Rae Whitlock, a 20-something IT-guy-turned-church-staffer-turned-IT-guy-again. I’m also a husband, a daddy, a son, a Christian, a coffee snob, a music lover, a technology buff, a novice theologian, a future seminarian, a wannabe presbyter, and various other things, depending on the day and time. For a fuller biographical treatment (and to see my ugly mug) check out the “about” page. You probably already knew to do that, but if not, welcome to the Internet.
The old site will stay up as an archive, but update your links/feeds/etc if you want to get the new stuff. Enjoy your stay. If you get bored, check out the copious links to your right.
